Four months in

Well well well. What a lot has happened since I thought I'd keep a regular little journal for myself. We are now four months into our adventure overseas and this time last year this wasn't even on the radar!

We have:

sold our house

bought a new house

moved almost every possession across the earth, which has given me a new appreciation of the importance of not holding onto things

changed jobs

changed schools

made new friends

yearned for ice-cream and chats with old ones

made some people happy

made others s'mad

questioned a lot of things that were previously the ground truth

BBQd in the dark (unwise)

eaten a lot of 'meaty slump' (also unwise in my books)

seen snow and ice and more snow

started to learn how to garden in a totally different climate

It's the last point that I think will be the focus here for me. It's totally novel and quite exciting and might be something fun to chart. It's that or the development of my matlab skills, and that's not going all that well really....

Christmas is around the corner and I think that it will be this that drives home how big a change this really all is.

New beginnings

If you'd asked me even just six months ago whether I would ever consider moving overseas, selling my home, leaving my job, making life chaotic, then I'd have laughed at you. A lot.

In three months, I will have done exactly that. Not bad for a girl who's lived in the same place her entire life. Not all good, particularly for family and friends, but an adventure nonetheless.

In anticipation of the possibility that I will sit in a new country wondering what on earth I was thinking, I plan to remind myself through this little blog. It's not for anyone else, just me. Well, and maybe Anita.

So our 8 feet (4 big, 4 small) will soon board a jet plane for a new life experience. I am hopeful that all will be well. It's all good, after all.
